Hello, my name is Jonathan Spivey and I am proud to be one of the Montessori 4/5/6 teachers at BLE!
I grew up in the Bay Area and did my Undergrad at UC Davis. Some of my favorite hobbies are rock climbing, board games, and reading.
I first started in Education by being a Paraeducator for a year in Sacramento. I began my teaching career in Davis Joint Unified last year as a substitute, and my time has included teaching at every single elementary school in Davis, as well as Long-Term Subbing 5th grade at Montgomery.
I was first introduced to the Montessori Method by my sister. The classroom she teaches is Montessori-inspired, and the home she makes for my nephews as well. I have since been fascinated by the Montessori Method and been reading books by Maria Montessori. I am currently in the process of obtaining my Montessori certification.
Fun Fact: I was diagnosed with ADD as a student, and have a particular heart for neurodivergence!
